Initiative

Vrinda Arora has been an advocate for various social causes and she has been an active participant in community intiatives. As a dedicated member of Tagore International School Vasant Vihar, Vrinda has been actively engaged in numerous campaigns in her school.

Her major initiatives focus on the rights of acid attack survivors, advocating for the intellectually challenged, supporting the rights of the economically weaker sections (EWS) and spreading awareness about organ donation and palliative care.

One of her notable endeavours was the setting up of 'Ninaad,' which is an annual fundraiser conducted on World Dance Day (29th April). This fundraiser was dedicated to supporting the rights of acid attack survivors. This remarkable event featured performances by teachers and students. Through creative campaigns and awareness raising, Vrinda and her team raised a significant amount of donation for the support of acid attack survivors.

The campaign also helped them to establish connections with eminent activists and created job opportunities for the survivors.

Further, to address the critical issue of acid attacks, Vrinda and her team launched the impactful #StopAcidSale campaign. Her dedicated group of students took proactive measures, visiting local chemists and urging them to discontinue the sale of acid.

Furthermore, they orchestrated 'Disha'23,' an online talent hunt that was specifically designed for the intellectually disabled. Vrinda had the honour of hosting a distinguished gathering that included international activists from esteemed organisations like Special Olympics Bharat and Special Olympics Pakistan, along with representatives from countries such as Uzbekistan, Russia, Iran, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and China.

Further in the pursuit of raising awareness about organ donation and palliative care, she visited several old age homes, including Sai Vriddh Aashram and partnered with Radisson Blu to contribute 100 beds and blankets to improve their convenience and provide comfort to the residents.

Vrinda and her team’s commitment also extended to the Earth Saviour's Foundation which is a sanctuary for elderly individuals abandoned by their families. Recognising the importance of offering warmth and comfort, particularly during colder months, their group initiated the donation of over 200 blankets to these deserving residents.

Vrinda is also the President of the Theatre Club "Team Awaam," at her school and she delivered an impactful stage play on organ donation at the Manekshaw Centre during the National Organ Donation Day celebrations on August 3rd. This event was held under the guidance of the Government of India and in the presence of Shri Mansukh L. Mandaviya, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare of India.

Notably, Vrinda and her group will also perform Nukkad Naatak on acid attacks at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, in front of the Honourable President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, during the upcoming Purple Fest.

The impact of Vrinda and her team's efforts is demonstrated through their noteworthy initiative, 'Ninaad,' which not only captivated the audience but was also successful in raising 1 lakh rupees in the year 2023. These funds were diligently directed toward financing crucial surgeries for acid attack survivors.
