Introduction - Neelam Sharma is an educator who teaches grades 5 to 7 at Amity International School, Saket.

Achievement - Promoted multilingualism with "Bhasha Sangam" which celebrates linguistic diversity, strengthening Hindi proficiency through activities beyond language classes and leveraging technology. 

Initiative

Neelam Sharma has incorporated multilingualism under the NEP 2020 framework through her Bhasha Sangam initiative. This initiative promotes linguistic diversity and strengthens multilingualism. Her approach involves incorporating various languages spoken by students, enhancing Hindi proficiency, and encouraging communication across languages. 

She utilises experiential learning methods and technology tools to create an engaging learning experience, and also promotes cultural sensitivity through diverse references and celebrations. 

The following are some examples of Neelam’s initiatives: 

Neelam has integrated subjects in various ways. One such example is conducting science experiments, writing reports, and teaching social studies lessons, all in Hindi, to reinforce vocabulary and cultural connections.

Neelam also focused on storytelling and debates. Traditional folktales, creative storytelling sessions, and Hindi debates on current affairs were incorporated to enhance language proficiency, boost confidence, and stimulate imagination.

Additionally, she utilised digital resources such as apps, games, and educational videos for extra practice and exposure outside the classroom.

Neelam has also organized cultural festivals where students showcased their talents through songs, dances, and skits, all performed in Hindi, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.

She conducted regular assessments to check for improvement in students' Hindi language skills, confidence, and overall engagement.

The project not only enhanced language skills but also promoted cultural exchange and appreciation, enriching the educational experience.

Neelam’s project has demonstrably improved students' Hindi proficiency, and confidence. It serves as a model for creating engaging, individualised, and culturally sensitive multilingual learning experiences.

Neelam Sharma is a finalist for Best Incorporation of an NEP 2020 Recommendation because of her creative vision to promote Multilingualism and the power of (Hindi) language in keeping with the recommendations of NEP 2020.
