An Associate Professor and Dean of Academics at DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, in Jalandhar, Dr. Dhuria adopts innovative teaching methods and focuses on the skill development of his students.

Dr. Dhuria has 22 years of rich experience in skill development strategies and student counselling and has previously worked with GTB Khalsa Institute of Engineering and Technology as an Assistant Professor.

Play-Based Learning
In order to remain effective and achieve desired outcomes, Dr. Dhuria uses Activity-Based Teaching Learning methods that are regularly taken up in his classroom sessions. Some fun learning activities include Role Plays, Group Tasking, Game-based and Project-based learning. He limits his students’ assessments to very few MCQs asked at the end of every session. As feedback is a crucial component of learning, Dr. Dhuria insists that his students provide genuine feedback on the learning imparted.

Real-world Learning Through Alumni Engagement
Dr. Dhuria believes that alumni are the biggest asset of an educational organization. Therefore, his project Pragyaan helped students connect with the alumni and familiarize them with each other. Dr. Dhuria initiated Know Your Alumni (KYA) on social media and institutional platforms to involve the alumni in teaching and mentoring students through online and offline modes.

Learning Tool To Encourage Student Participation
To make classroom teaching more intriguing and interactive, Dr. Dhuria introduced students to the Answergarden tool which is an easy-to-use polling tool that allows a teacher to quickly collect the thoughts and ideas of students. The tool is used to accomplish a wide range of educational tasks, such as brainstorming, polling, and formative assessment. In addition, Dr. Dhuria believes in developing collaborative working skills among students and aims to instill a sense of responsibility among peers. He emphasises group assignments on real-life case studies so that students can be evaluated on their teamwork skills.

Industry Week For Students
To bridge the gap between industry and academia, Dr. Dhuria organises an Industry Week customized to the needs of his students. As part of the industry weeks for students, he invites Industry experts and scholars to the university to deliver lectures on relevant topics. In addition, he organizes skill development field trips which are aimed at making the students industry-ready.

- Awarded the Indian Society for Technical Education Best Teacher Award, including a cash prize of INR 7000/-, for Punjab State (2018) at the ISTE Annual Convention held in VTU Belgaum in March 2019.
- Awarded with ISTE Section (Punjab, Chandigarh, H.P and J&K) Best Teacher Award 2015.
- Outstanding Contribution to Engineering Education Award by ISIEIndia (2021)
