Based on the belief that Youth are the key to shaping a better future, Aniket and Seher decided to set-up ‘The Tale of Humankind’ initiative in April 2020. The initiative was aimed at engaging, empowering and inspiring young students to lead from the front to curb the impact that pandemic has created in different aspectsof our life. Built upon collaboration and focused on capacity building, ‘The Tale of Humankind’is a passion-driven youth leadership initiative to enable, connect, and engage youth advocates from starting conversation saround key issues and taking them from ideas to action.
By connecting change-makers all over the world, Aniket and Seher wish to create a ripple of sustainable development to create a beautiful and healthy planet. ‘The Tale of Humankind’ is envisioned with values of Inclusion to consider all perspectives equally, Integrity to honour the best in ourselves and others, Inspiration to move people to believe in better, Innovation to make a difference, differently & Impact to create change that matters.
During the last 10 months of the pandemic, ‘The Tale of Humankind’ initiative launched by Aniket and Seher has campaigns on diverse issues such as Mental Health, Menstruation, Gender Equality, Human Rights, Power of Youth, Child Rights, Climate Action, UN Sustainable Development Goals, Global Citizenship, Education in COVID, etc. These include:
#OurRightsCampaign: A 30-days project #OurRightsCampaign" to create awareness about 30 Human Rights in simple language that is vital for creating a culture of human rights and it reached thousands of people globally. Apart from sharing the glaring statistics and making the youth aware of the facts, Tale of Humankind even engaged them daily through interactive questions to grow together with sharing of views and ideas.
Youth for Mental Health: To normalize talks about Mental Health and highlight the importance of positive psychology, the duo shared a series of 7 movies on the theme,” Youth For Mental Health" in support of the #SameHere movement. They also invited Experts and Youth Advocates of this field to answer some of the most common questions and help break the stigma and myths related to Mental Health especially during the COVID times which has taken a toll on the overall psychological and mental well being of students.
#Stigma2Strength: As has been rightly said, ‘When you educate a woman, you educate a generation,’ it is essential to build inclusivity in our society and destigmatize menstruation. With this in mind, ‘The Tale of Humankind’ hosted a conversation #Stigma2Strength and collaborated with Sayfty to amplify the need for normalizing discussion on Menstruation.
Towards a greener world: To develop a culture of empathy for the environment among students from early childhood itself, Aniket and Seher launched a campaign titled ‘Towards a Green World’.The campaign was kick-started by hosting a global quiz on World Environment Day that developed a basic understanding of environment, climate & sustainable development. Later, to accelerate this on a pan-India scale, they started a petition on Change.org to demand from the government to include climate education in school curriculum. This has received support from many environmentalists such as Dia Mirza, Renowned Actress & UNEP Ambassador; Tejaswini Manogna, Miss Earth India; and more.
Be More You: Using the power of stories to heal mental health issues that became very much prevalent during the pandemic, Aniket and Seher brought the spotlight on stories of 6 Mental Health Warriors and shared them with the world. The stories told the tale of how these mental health warriors faced difficult challenges and came out stronger than before.
Young Changemaker Series: It is rightly said, “The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of us but those who win battles we know nothing about.” The Tale of Humankind collaborated with Save the Children, India, to highlight 10 stories of unsung change makers who are working in their own ways to help the society and their work deserves to be showcased and appreciated. Even with limited means, they never fail to fight the hindrances in their way and stay determined towards their goals. Aniket and Seher interviewed these change makers and their work went on to inspire many others.
SDG Lensation: It is rightly said that Photography is an austere and blazing poetry of the real. With this in mind, Aniket and Seher used the magic of photography to create awareness about United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where students clicked photographs that represented different goals such as No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, etc. This invited large scale participation with about 700 entries from across the globe. Vicky Roy, a celebrated photographer joined them to judge the entries & to create a handbook for school students to understand SDGs through photographs.
As a sub-initiative of The Tale of Humankind, Aniket hosted a podcast show where he gave a platform to the most influential voices in the field of education, to help students, teachers and parents to understand their role in facilitating Education during & post COVID times.
